Looking Ahead

Ministry Among Ourselves

Episcopal Church Women (ECW)-unite the women of the Parish in an itegrated plan for worship, study, action (Prayer, gifts, and service) and fellowship, which will deepen and strengthen their own spiritual lives and through which they can serve in advancing the official program of the Church in this Parish, community, Diocese, nation and the world. Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of the month (September thru May) at 11:30 am.

Episcopal Young Churchpeople (EYC)-welcomes all young people at St.Luke’s who are in middle school through high school.  Youth activities are varied and include fellowship, service, recreation, and spiritual activities.  We have monthly meetings on Sundays with EYC programs range from seriuos to fun.  We also do outreach projects both within the church and community.  The youth of St. Luke’s have  many opportunities for service to their church and their community.
St. Luke’s EYC seeks to provide an environment in which young persons can explore, experience, discuss and debate their growing understanding of themselves, the person of Jesus Christ and their places in a Christian community.  Monthly Sunday afternoon or evening meetings, retreats, and Diocesan Weekends are among the various ways in which this takes place.

Brotherhood of St. Andrew-is a missionary and evangelism ministry of the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion.  In fact, it is the oldest evangelistic ministry in the Episcopal Church.  The fraternity’s goal is to bring men and boys to Jesus Christ through prayer, study and service. The Brotherhood meets at 6:30 am the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month.

The Order of the Daughters of the King-is an order for  women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church, churches in communion with it , or churches in the Historic Episcopate but not in communion with it.  Members undertake a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service.  St. Monica’s Chapter was established at St. Luke’s in 2003 to be an extension of Christ’s Kingdom through Prayer, Service and Evangelism.

Altar Guild-serves as a witness ministry in the preparation of the Altar and church for regular services (including the celebration of the Eucharist), the holy days and festivals of the church, including Christmas and Easter.  The Guild cares for the linens, communion silver, liturgical hangings, candles and vases used in various services, including weddings, funerals, and baptisms.  Altar Guild Members work in monthly assignments with 3or 4 women and men preparing for Saturday evening and Sunday services and the after care.

Knitting Ministry-gathers together to knit shawls for those in need of prayers and healing. It isn’t just about how we care for others, but how God chooses to care for others through us.

Eucharistic Visitors-share Holy Eucharist with parishioners who are unable to attend the celebration at Church.

Community of Hope-creates communities committed to pastoral care, and equips lay persons to be present in a compassionate, listening, non-controlling manner in order to make a difference in the health and well-being of those in need. The volunteer lay pastoral caregivers are united in prayer; shaped by Benedictine spirituality; and equipped for and serving in pastoral care ministries.
